In celebration of our new "no school" life Dominic and I took off for the weekend to Astoria for a beach getaway. Pretty much, I want to move to the coast now!
This is where we stayed in downtown Astoria.
Hotel Elliott is a historical hotel which was just featured in "1,000 Places to See Before You Die". Our room had a fantastic, plush pillow-top bed and a jetted tub in the bathroom. We loved the hotel restaurant too, the best cocktails and appetizers this side of the Columbia!
Dominic was very happy to see the elk refuge between Seaside and Astoria.
It was very cold the whole weekend so we only had a few minutes at the beach ... but of course, enough for a picture.
Yes, yes, a foggy, blustery day at the Oregon Coast. Only a true Pacific Northwesterner could appreciate the glamour of the winter beach.

The biggest surprise was our trip to the
Columbia River Day Spa which was kitty corner from our hotel. I completely understand how celebrities justify weekly trips to the spa ... nothing says rejuvenation like a facial!
